On March 8, Golden Seeds joined Stanford University’s Wearable Technology Initiative (eWear) to learn about the innovations of ‘artificial skin’ from renowned professor and entrepreneur, Zhenan Bao. Two of Silicon Valley’s leading VC investors, Connie Chan and Michelle Colucci, offered their insights on the state of investing in healthcare and technology innovation. Two entrepreneurs, Xina Quan, Ph.D., Co-Founder and CEO, PyrAmes Inc. and Madhu Stemmermann, Co-Founder and CEO, SunRay Scientific Inc. discussed the journey of women entrepreneurs.
Golden Seeds co-CEO and Managing Partner, Loretta McCarthy, provided opening remarks and welcomed over 100 guests to this event. Golden Seeds is celebrating its 20th year of investing and supporting women entrepreneurs. International Women’s Day has evolved into a global phenomenon, uniting individuals and organizations around the world in celebrating women’s achievements and advocating for equality.
On January 30, the Rutgers Office for Research, along with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), the Rutgers University Foundation, and the New Jersey chapter of Golden Seeds, hosted an angel investing forum that featured the founders and inventors of startups and technologies that were developed at Rutgers.
Presenters included the founders of ImmuNoVx Biotech, MaxVac, NanoInk Imaging, RAPT Ventures, Inc., RenewCO₂, Thrive Genetics, and Zena Therapeutics Inc.
The event was part of the New Jersey chapter of Golden Seeds’ goal to close the funding gap faced by female-led startups and support their success by increasing access to capital and creating mentoring opportunities with angel investors and successful entrepreneurs.
