Using synthetic biology, we are bringing to market two platform chemicals using strains of bacteria E. coli that produce glucaric acid and 3-HBL. Glucaric acid and 3-HBL were identified as “Top 10 Value Added Chemicals from Biomass” by the DOE and multi-billion dollar markets for use of the two chemicals are limited by cost and availability. Our processes will reduce the cost to produce these molecules by an order of magnitude versus traditional chemical methods.
